Part-time, 22hrs/wk, 1yr contract with opportunity to extend, flexible role perfect for university students

Core Role Responsibilities

  • Actively engaging with and supporting the formation and growth of existing YCS groups
  • Maintaining diocesan involvement from students and adults in the movement
  • Developing the YCS brand and promoting the movement
  • Actively seeking to expand the movement (approximately one group per year), and providing information and training to communities wishing to start YCS
  • Ensuring admin, safeguarding, and budgeting tasks are completed
  • Engaging parents, supporting adults, YCS alumni, and other key stakeholders in the movement


About You

All staff shall agree to abide by the philosophy and principles of the Young Christian Students movement, and live them out in all aspects of their life. In taking on the Review of Life, workers recognise and accept the need to be a model of what it means to be an active Christian leader who is living their life based on the radical call of the Gospel.

As a YCS staff member, it is required that you:

  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and are approachable for students
  • Have public speaking skills, and are confident
  • Are organised, motivated, reliable, and have a high professional work ethic and standards
  • Have initiative, and can direct yourself/work independently
  • Can adapt and persevere in difficult situations, and deal with conflict appropriately
  • Uphold ethical behaviour in all interactions and duties
  • Have an active commitment to the values of YCS, and carry them out in your personal life
  • Can articulate the connection between Christian belief, prayer, reflection, and action
  • Understand the YCS movement, Cardijn spirituality, and the Review of Life method
